Artist's Statement
My paintings, which are usually about 22"x28", are pure transparent watercolor, i.e., not resorting to the use of opaque paint to obtain white or other light colors. I consider myself a contemporary realist with a hint of impressionism.
| "Landeros is an expert colorist whose style is distinguished by vivid colors that are unusual for this purist watercolor technique. The colors, combined with bold areas of spontaneous yet controlled tones and hues, simultaneously convey a sense of both strength and delicate nuance. Unequivocally, they arrest our attention, declaring that something powerful is going on here!"

I try to exercise a high level of technical skill, a careful perception of the real world, and serious consideration of composition and control of the medium. I am committed to significant imagery, meaning, and communication.
My extensive travels provide inspiration for many of my paintings and testify to my personal knowledge of the subjects I paint with authenticity and originality.
My favorite subjects are the native peoples of
Mexico
and
Central America
, particularly the women and children whose fashions, designs, and color remain constant. The brilliance of the watercolor medium helps me to communicate the richness of the southwestern scene and the striking warm colors of the natives' garb.
I want my paintings to require no explanation or to expound no philosophy; I merely want the story and colors to educe an emotional response.
